NYC Hidden Garden

NYC has so many hidden gems. I stumbled upon one today while walking.

I've lived in the East Village for 4 years and have never come across this.

Between 2nd and 3rd Ave on 3rd street, there is a hidden garden behind the buildings that make up the block. And it's gorgeous.

The garden sits above a cemetery built in the 1830s. Below ground, there are 156 vaults, each the size of a room. Over 2,100 people have been buried there, mostly in the 1800s.

The garden is open once a month to the public, but you can rent the space out for weddings or events for $7,500/day.
