Forcing Yourself to Figure it Out

I recently moved into my own apartment. It's my first time living alone. It was a difficult decision whether to move, mainly because my rent would go from $1,500 to $2,800.

While it's nice to live alone and create my unique space that I love, the move has done more than just that.

It's forced me to grow up a little.

In my last apartment, I didn't need to make a ton of money to afford living in NYC because my rent was so low. So naturally, I coasted a bit more at work and wasn't as proactive about finding a new job.

Now, to afford the rent, I have to make more money. Which has forced me to work harder and focus more on my career. It's been a great forcing function.

Sometimes the right move is to put yourself into situations that will force you to take on the actions you desire. You'll have no other choice.
